LEGO Canada Arm

DESCRIPTION

The gripper showcased in the first video served as a prototype for the mechanism. The second video is a prototype of the control system. Given the limited number of sensors and motors included in the LEGO robotics kits, I had to find creative ways to achieve accurate control without requiring additional parts.

Explanation of the mechanisms: Using a motor and a wheel, I mapped the movement of the wheel to the rotation of the motor at the base of the arm. Using a color sensor attached to a pinion rack, the LEGO robot would raise or lower the arm in response to different colors. Red would lower the arm, green would raise it, and if it was neither red nor green (in between), the arm would stay in place. Lastly, with a force sensor, the gripper was programmed to open when partially pressed and close when hard-pressed.
